According to scientific studies published to date, beta glucan has a significant impact on the function of the immune system. This is shown:
- In a better protection against viruses, parasites, mould or bacteria (jointly called “pathogens”)
- In the prevention and treatment of cancer
- In its favourable activity on sensitivity to allergens
Beta glucan’s support to the immune system is ensured by a change in the activity of immune cells (macrophages and T-cells/lymphocytes) and by improving their function:
- Seeking out and eliminating foreign elements in the body: pathogens
- Increasing the production of cytokines (e.g. TNF – tumour necrosis factor) and certain sub-groups of T-lymphocytes
- Increasing the organism’s specific and non-specific immune reaction
